Diversity Day 2025
This semester's event featured a lecture entitled "From the British Museum to the Museum of Homelessness" by our guest from the Department of English Studies.
Dóra Janczer first walked us through some grand old museums in the UK, for a long time privileged places for a white educated audience, to finally show us a few museums that have recently become more inclusive in their approach to "the improvement, knowledge and information of all persons" as orginally expressed by one of the British Museum's founders (Hans Sloane’s Will, 1751). Dóra Janczer shared wonderful examples of museums showcasing artefacts and artwork from all over the world and at the same time diversifying and engaging their audiences. Thank you for this fantastic eye-opening lecture!
