Transformational Moments & Communities in Teaching, 2023

On Thursday, 25 May 2023 DELP and IATEFL Hungary (The International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language) organised a mini conference for teacher trainees. The overall aims of the conference were to:

• focus on teacher development possibilities after graduation
• share Teaching Practice stories
• focus on ’moments’ (events, challenges, projects, communities, conferences) that can shape our own personal / professional development
• provide some information on IATEFL Hungary and to encouage you to join this virbrant professional community

We started with some trainees and early career teachers sharing some transformational stories; i.e., personal accounts of critical moments or experiences in their teaching practice or daily lives at school. This was followed by some question and discussion time. Then Németh Lászó, the current President of IATEFL Hungary, talked about why being an IATEFL Hungary member is beneficial for teachers. We also prepared a raffle for all participating trainees with some great prizes sponsored by LIBRA and IATEFL.

Collaborate, mingle and you'll never be lonely; experiment and try out new techniques in your teaching; don't be afraid of making mistakes; explore the context - just a few ideas that we learnt today thanks to our wonderful presenters. This afternoon was a much-needed boost to our motivation.
